BELCHERTOWN CHAPTER NEWS

(LAST UPDATED 02/22/10)

Plans for 2010
The Belchertown Chapter is busy planning for 2010. At this point their first event of the season is the Peggy Santaniello Memorial Pleasure Ride which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 23rd at the Swift River Sportsman’s Club in Belchertown, MA. Last year was the first time the chapter held this ride and it was a success as everyone had a great time and funds were raised for the American Heart Association, Animal Shelters and the Belchertown Chapter itself. We hope to have another fun and successful event to honor the memory of Peggy who was an active member for many years in the GRHC and passed away in August of 2008.
Also in the plans this year is a ride at Northfield Mountain Recreation Area in Northfield, MA on September 19th with a rain date of September 26th, 2010. The Poinsettia Ball is again being planned for December with more events in the works.

Poinsettia Ball Report from December 2009

On Saturday, December 5th, 2009 the
Belchertown Chapter of the GRHC held its’ first Annual Poinsettia Ball at the VFW in Belchertown, MA.
The evening began with soft dinner music played by the D. J. Patrick Callinan of High Note Productions of Haydenville who later provided dancing music from a wide range of selections. Beautifully decorated tables with poinsettia flower arrangements was done by
Belchertown Chapter member Pat Kane with linens provided by Laurie Reid. The entire event was organized by Belchertown Chapter Vice– President, Dr. Bethany
Bowman, who worked tiressly to make all the arrangements and got donations from the many sponsors for wonderful items on the huge raffle table. Committee members such as Belchertown President Dede Beach, Fred Davis, Jen Oey, Pat Kane, Brian Benoit, Crissy Barch, and Marcia Gamache helped with the many other duties.
The amazing chef who prepared a wonderfully delicious meal was Diane Boughton.
The event was enjoyed by all and proceeds were raised for the Belchertown Chapter of the GRHC with funds raised at the raffled table donated to Blue Star Equiculture and the Belchertown C.A.N organization during their January food drive.  Thanks goes to all who helped and to all the sponsors who donated to the raffle table. I will have a list of those businesses and individuals for the next newsletter. We look forward to 2010’s Poinsettia’s Ball.
