The GRHC has some wonderful events planned for the upcoming 2019 season. We begin in April with the GRHC's Trail Pace on Sunday, April 14th at Dufresne Park in Granby, MA. For those of you who may not know, a trail pace is a competition where riders, either
or in teams of 2 or 3, compete to match the time of the pacesetter through a marked loop. The team or individual with the closest time to the pacesetter wins 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place. A meal will follow. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded.
In May will host a ride to Northfield Mountain in Northfield, Ma. There are some beautiful wide trails and open fields there and it is always a popular place to ride. A delicious meal will follow.
GRHC's Open Horse Show will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019. Plans are in the works for this annual popular show to be held, once again, at Dufresne Park, in Granby, MA. More information and class list to come.
This year for the first time, the GRHC plans to host a camp-over or a day ride during the weekend of July 6th & July 7th. It will be at the Wagon Wheel Campground in Warwick, MA. You may choose to camp-over or just come for the day to ride. A meal will be served on one of those days. So please join us.
Also, new this year, we are planning a ride in August with the Reddington Rock Riding Club in Stafford Springs, CT. We will be riding from their club grounds into adjacent Shenipsit State Forest. We can't wait to meet our new CT riding friends and explore this new site for us. At this point, we don't have a definitive date yet but keep checking our website and Facebook pages for more information soon. This location is within an hour of Granby.
Returning events this year is the popular GRHC Poker ride in Granby, MA on Sunday, September 8th and GRHC's participation in the Belchertown Fair Parade later in September. We are also investigating some old trails that the GRHC used to ride on many years ago for GRHC'ss Fall Foliage Ride and Feast on Sunday, October 6th. We have some work to do to make this happen. Again, keep checking our website and Facebook pages for more.
We wrap up the season on Sunday, October 20th with GRHC's McDonald's Nature Preserve Ride & Obstacle course in Wilbraham. Ribbons and prizes will again be awarded.
Finally, this year we are announcing the institution of our new Trail Accumulation Points Program. We will give points at our rides and those of others for year-end awards. We will have more information about this program soon. Also, we hope to have all of our rides listed with
(New England Horse and Trail).
We hope to have some speakers and other events too. Please join or renew your membership and let us know what events you'd like to see in the upcoming year. It is our 25th year since the GRHC'ss initial formation. Come celebrate with us.
