GRHC' brown Bag lunch ride and (non-judged) Obstcle course took place on Sunday April 17th at McDonalds nature preserve in Wilbraham, MA. As usual, everyone seemed to have a good time exploring the trails and then coming back to ride the non-judged fun, practice obstacle coure that was set up in the field.  The obstacles  were the same ones we had at the October ride and we will be bringing those back for this October's  McDonald's Pleasure Ride and Obstacle  Coure on Sunday, October 23rd (rain date is 10/30/16)

Many thanks  to all who helped. Special thanks to GRHC board members, David  and Jailyn Gonzalez  for setting up and making the  obstacles. Thanks to Jailyn for running the sign in desk.

GRHC’s Annual Poker Ride
From Sunday, September 11th, 2016

We had great time at Dufresne Park again the this year for  GRHC’s Annual Poker ride which took place on Sunday, September 11th, 2016.  It was a beautiful day as 25 riders took the trails and had fun.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.
We came back to a wonderful, delicious, home-made Puerto Rican feast of pork, rice, salad, rolls, dessert and more.  A huge thanks to goes to David Gonzalez for cooking the entire feast.  Also to Jailyn Gonzalez  for running the sign- in desk and helping me figure out the winners of the poker hands. Thanks also to GRHC member, Tammy Gehrung who took a couple of days to thoroughly mark the route so no one would get lost  and miss the cards that were on bags on the  trees. It was extremely well marked!  Thanks also to GRHC members Jose Martinez and Blaine Garson for going out before the other riders to place the bags on the trees in the morning.   Later,  after the meal, we opened up the sealed envelopes containing the 5 cards. The top 4 winners were: 1st -Mark Girard , 2nd- Cady Obremski, 3rd-Jenna Obremski, 4th-Sabrina Obremski. They all won prizes for their winning hands. Looks like the Obremski’s a had a great day but it is all in the luck of the cards.
At this time , I do not have any good photos from the event.   if you have any photos of horses and riders, please send them to meat

GRHC’s Late Summer Pleasure Ride
From Sunday, August 28th, 2016
The GRHC held our Late Summer Pleasure ride this year at a new location for us: Lithia Springs Reservoir in South Hadley, MA.  Lithia Springs is a part of the state trails that go to Skinner State park and the Mount Holyoke Range and it provides many opportunities for passive recreational use such as horseback riding and hiking.  GRHC Board Member, Jen Moreau suggested and organized the ride for us and we are so glad that she did! It turned out to be a very nice ride with a great meal afterwards.
The trails were beautiful and wide although some were steep in areas as we climbed the mountain.  However, you had a choice of both a shorter, flatter route or a more challenging one to the summit.  The view from the summit, I am told was just wonderful!!  Many folks took this route while others went for a shorter route.
We had wonderful, fun time and we came back to a delicious meal cooked by Jen Moreau and Mike Goodrow of steak, corn on the cob, home-made salads and more!! Lexy Goodrow, Mike and Jen’s daughter, helped lead some riders and helped mark the trail with her mom the day before.  (Unfortunately many markers where taken down as soon as they put up causing some confusion with only a few riders. Namely me and fellow board member and former president Jim Picard.!!  Oh well, we still had a great time and lots of fun) Huge thanks goes out to Jen, Mike, and Lexy for a great time and for everything. Thanks also to Sapowsky Farms for donating the delicious corn from their  farm on route 202 in Granby.  Please send me more photos if you have them. Send them to

GRHC’s Spring Pleasure Ride
From Sunday, May 15th, 2016

The GRHC had a great ride out of Mount Toby Stables on Sunday, May 15th in Leverett ,MA. Roberta Bryant, as usual, provided a great route through some nice trails and dirt roads.  We did have to ride back on fairly busy road but everyone seemed to handle it well. I guess we can no longer ride up the mountain because of trail damage due to past storms, namely the October snow storm 2011, but the trails and dirt roads that we did ride on during most of the ride, were quiet and beautiful. I had a great time riding with fellow board member, David Gonzalez and long time friend, Lisa Cenis .

Later everyone came back to eat large grinders from Big Y along with other beverages.  Thank you, once again, to Roberta Bryant for marking the trails and allowing  us to have the ride at Mount Toby Stables. Thanks to Jailyn Gonzalez for, once again running the sign–in  desk.
